Creation, how long was it?

I have been doing a lot of studying lately on creation and there are many thoughts on this.  I would personally still remain in the pool of folks who believe God did create the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th.   Now… the big question comes to be is how long was this 6th day period.  I have been taught these could have been 6 – thousand year periods.   I am ok with this… I am also open to the fact this MAY HAVE took several million years through those 6 days???  My brother-in-law has a degree in Biology and is a man of faith.  He takes the facts science provides and provides some good points in that God could have took a longer time than we might have originally thought to design and bring things to pass.  Although,  I do NOT believe in evolution, period.  I believe “God created the heavens and the earth..” but how long did it take?

toon_4802Now, I didn’t say I believed it took millions of years but I am open to the fact that God could have took that much time to put these things into motion even before he actually started to create anything.  I feel that it was 6 – thousand day periods that God used to create the earth.

I am embedding a video that is the first in a series of videos by Kent Hovind.  I think this is one of the BEST series of teachings on creation that I’ve ever seen.   Check out the actual website at http://www.drdino.com/

I thought I would throw a poll out here to see how you feel.

  1. Gen. 1:5 “And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day”. This was a 24 hour day. Why must we limit GOD, and say that it these days were a 1000 years long? At Calvary, when God’s Son was dying, how long did it take GOD to cause the Sun to not shine? The Sun refused to shine for 3 hours. Bro. Mears was the greatest Teacher of the Word of God, I have ever heard, and he said those days of creation were 24 hour days.

    • When GOD created the Light and the Darkness, it ought to be obvious, that the way He did this was to set the Earth in motion. GOD created the Earth to make one revolution every 24 hours. It has been this way for almost 6000 years. Incidentally, when GOD made the Light and the Darkness, they were exactly 12 hours long. There are only (2) times a year that this happens, the vernal and the autumnal equinox. which is about March 21 and Sept. 23. So, based on Gen. 1:5 the Light and the darkness being equal, God created the Earth on March 21, some 6000 years ago. It’s not coincidental, that this also the 1st day of Spring, when all the seeds in the Earth are germinating.
